Questions regarding transactions

What’s the order flow like?

Inquiry → Quote → Contract Delivery (Signature/Seal Required) → Formal Order → On-site Measurement (Actual Size Confirmation) → Invoice Issuance → Product Manufacturing → Payment Receipt → Shipping/Delivery

※Please note that product shipping and delivery will occur only after we confirm receipt of your payment.

Can you produce sizes and designs not listed in the catalog?

With the exception of a few items, all products manufactured by our company are made to order.
While we do not offer mass production, we do accommodate custom orders, so please feel free to consult with us.

Once dimensions and specifications are finalized and a formal order is placed, we create official CAD design drawings tailored to each customer’s design. This allows you to review the product specifications and visual image you desire in advance via the drawings.

What is the delivery time?

Depending on the order details and volume, the estimated delivery timeframe is 30 days from the formal order placement. For expedited delivery requests based on customer circumstances, please be sure to inquire in advance.

Can I place an order outside the region/country?

Our factory is located in Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture, Japan, but we have numerous projects outside the prefecture, including overseas.

For deliveries to distant locations, we generally ship the products directly to avoid passing on travel expenses to our customers.

If you require products that need on-site installation, such as fixtures, please first consult a local remodeling contractor or specialist.

How should I take measurements?

Custom-made lattice screens and other fixtures require on-site measurements as each piece has unique dimensions and specifications. We recommend consulting a local remodeling contractor or specialist.
Please feel free to request our dedicated measurement sheet, which we will gladly send to you.

How should we proceed with the steps from quotation to delivery?

We will mail our product catalog and price list to interested parties. Please use this along with the construction examples on our website for reference. (You can request these via phone or our website inquiry form.)
When requesting a quote, please provide as much information as possible regarding your desired design (product number), material, dimensions, quantity, specifications, etc. We will then prepare a quote for you.

For general customers considering new construction or renovation:
If you are unsure about technical details, please introduce us to the construction company (or carpenter) you plan to hire for the actual work. Our craftsmen will then contact them directly by phone to discuss the project.

Questions regarding products

Can the size of the border lattice be changed?

This item is also made to order, so size and specification changes are possible. Border lattice panels can be made in a single piece up to a maximum length of 2400mm. Lengths exceeding this will require joining.

Due to production constraints, orders for individual pieces under 900mm in length will be charged at nearly the same price as a 900mm piece. Please be aware of this in advance. (Shorter lengths incur a premium.)

Can you create partition waves of different sizes?

Our bent latticework products are crafted using a specialized processing method developed by our company. While height adjustments are possible, the width cannot be altered.

Please contact us for further details.

Is there any tear-resistant paper for living room shoji screens?

For shoji paper applied to kumiko latticework, we recommend reinforced paper with four times the strength of standard Japanese paper. (It will tear if pierced with a sharp object like a pencil, but it will not tear when pressed with a finger.)

Is it possible to insert acrylic?

Yes. For customers concerned even with our reinforced paper (four times the standard strength), we recommend thick acrylic (2mm or more). The installation method is the same as for glass (fixed by embedding).

However, since acrylic is ultimately a plastic material, it cannot provide the soft texture of traditional shoji paper.
As acrylic sliding doors carry significant weight, we also recommend installing door rollers and using a flutter rail system.

Can we apply color coating to kumiko?

Kumiko pieces are crafted from carefully selected premium timber. To allow you to appreciate the inherent beauty of the material and its natural aging process, we generally recommend leaving the wood unfinished (unpainted).

For those who absolutely require a finish, we recommend a body-friendly oil finish. Oil finishes may show slight color variations depending on the wood section, but they provide a matte texture without compromising the wood’s natural character.

To avoid issues, we provide finish samples for your review.
Colors not in stock incur an additional fee; please inquire beforehand.
