*We deliver our items only when the payment is complete. We appreciate your understanding.

  • Q

Is it possible to order sizes and designs that are not in the catalog?

    A

Besides a few, almost all of our items are made to order.
We cannot produce mass quantities, but we do accept customize orders so feel free to send us your request.
After the size and specification is fixed and we receive an official order, we will draw a CAD design just for you, so you can imagine the finished product.

  • Q

How long is the production time?

    A

It depends on the item and quantity, but we set 30 days from the official order as a standard delivery time. If you are in a hurry, please note so in your inquiry.

  • Q

Can I order from other prefectures?

    A

Yes, we are located in Shimane, but we often receive orders from other parts of Japan and overseas.
For distant places, we send our products only and do not look after the installation, so if you are ordering items that need installation, be sure to contact a housing reform company nearby.

  • Q

How can I check the measurements?

    A

Fittings like the kumiko shoji all vary in size and specification, so measurement at the actual site is necessary. Consult a nearby housing reform company or construction company. We will send you our special measuring sheet.

  • Q

How should I get the price estimate?

    A

Contact us by telephone or the inquiry page, and we will send you our catalog and price list. Check our website for past works. Let us know which design (by product number), type of wood, size, quantity, specification you would like, and we will calculate the estimate.

If you are building your house or having a renovation,
and you are not sure of the technical details, connect us to your contractors and we will discuss with them directly by telephone.

FAQ ON PRODUCTS

  • Q

Can I customize the size of the kumiko line?

    A

The kumiko lines are made to order, so it is possible to customize the size and specifications. The maximum length for one kumiko line is 2400mm. For walls longer, we will connect the lines.
For manufacturing matters, prices will not change under 900mm of length, so short lines will be comparatively high priced.

  • Q

Can I customize the size of the partitions?

    A

Bent kumiko items are made with our special processing technique. The height is changeable, but the width is fixed.
    Contact us for further consultation.

  • Q

Do you have any tearproof paper for use with Living Shoji?

    A

For the shoji sheet to use in the kumiko shoji, we recommend a strengthened type of washi (Japanese paper), which has 4 times the durability compared to a normal washi. It will rip if you stab it with a sharpened pencil, but it endures finger pokes.
The “Waron sheet” is a thin acrylic sheet adjusted by double sided tape. It is not fit for kumiko products, and may damage the kumiko in future sheet replacements.

  • Q

    Can I use acrylic?

    A

Yes, if you feel insecure with the strengthened wash, we recommend thick acrylic sheets (2mm or more). It will be constructed in the same way as glass. Because it is plastic, it will not be able to bring in the faint light as a shoji paper does.
Also, when using heavy acrylic on sliding doors, we recommend to apply door rollers and rails.

  • Q

Is it possible to color the kumiko?

    A

We use finely selected wood for the kumiko. To thoroughly enjoy the beauty of the wood itself and feel the aging, we recommend not to paint them.
Though if you wish, we recommend oil finish painting, natural and harmless to human health. Oil finishings come out uneven on some parts of wood, but you can maintain the wood characteristics and gain a matte texture.
For color finishings, we present samples of the paint to prevent troubles. For colors we do not stock, it will be charged, so contact us beforehand.
